A few weeks ago it was confirmed that the baddest assassin in the DC universe, Deathstroke, will be making his first live action movie appearance in the DCEU. It wasn’t know who would be playing the iconic villain, or where he would pop up in this universe. Well we can tick one of those questions off out list as it has been confirmed today that Joe Manganiello will be taking on the role of Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke in the upcoming Batman solo movie directed by Ben Affleck.
It was confirmed this morning by DC’s chief creative office Geoff Johns that Manganiello will in fact be facing off against Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight in the upcoming Batman movie. Johns did however stay quiet on the Justice League front, neither confirming or denying that Slade will be making a small cameo appearance in next years superhero epic.
It has been rumoured for a while now that Manganiello will be taking on the role, as early as the initial announcement for DC’s Suicide Squad, but it’s only until now that it has been fully confirmed. To be honest I’m not that surprised that it has been fully confirmed, not only in Manganiello a very capable actor, he is also ripped beyond belief and looks a lot how Slade Wilson should look in the comics. I think he fits this role perfectly and only makes me more excited to see the Batman movie whenever it will be released.
There has been no official release date set for Affleck’s solo outing as the Dark Knight, but he and Johns are currently writing the script, which must be pretty solid if they’re confident in the villain enough to show test footage and announce the actor behind the mask. It has been suggested the movie will hit cinema screens in 2018/2019, but only time will tell, and I believe we will get an officially announcement within the next 6 months.
The question is however, what do YOU think about the official casting of Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke? Let me know in the comments below or hit me up on Twitter!
